Zoom Online Workshops

Picture
Saffron Myers and I have  just completed our first writer’s group in lockdown. It was a new way of working for us, but a couple of hours a week, using Zoom, has proved a dynamic and rewarding experience for both us and our writers. So, we're now planning our second group.  Our work is tailored to each playwright and their play so numbers are limited to six participants  Join us, and we will help you focus, get your ideas on paper and move forward with ongoing drafts. We have built up a huge range of tools and techniques to work on and hone your play's characters, structure and dialogue.

Our promise to keep working on your play from the first draft to the finish line sets us apart.  We'll set deadlines, encourage you to keep writing and mentor you at every stage of work including regular reading and feedback too. We put our workshop tools into practice combining tutor-led sessions with a  peer-led writers' group approach. This creates an intimate and supportive space between fellow creatives.  We want brilliant new writing to come from lockdown. We're here to help make that happen now, and in the future.

We're looking for up to six playwrights with strong ideas.

Details:

Who: Co-hosts Mike Carter (The Space, London Playwriting Lab, South London Writers' Group) and Saffron Myers (Paines Plough, Hampstead Theatre) have been running successful writer's groups at the Omnibus and Cockpit Theatres for over five years now.

Times: Tuesday evenings 7-9pm on Zoom from June 9th

Cost:  Previous attendees paid £180 for all our time, materials, reading and mentoring over ten weeks.  We know times are hard, so we are offering this online version on a pay-what-you-can basis. Long term, any fees will help create a fund for room hire, performer wages and production costs for any development of new plays once lockdown down is lifted.
